As summer brings the heat, there is nothing like a refreshing margarita to cool off the day! If you’re looking for a fresh and easy pool side drink, this is just about the easiest margarita you will find!

It’s actually kind of funny that I’m writing up this post, because I used to really HATE margaritas. Every margarita I would try seemed to be made up of pure sweet-and-sour and who knows what else! It was just too much of a fake taste and I couldn’t stand it. It wasn’t until last summer when my brother-n-law gave us a special recipe to try. It was all fresh ingredients, and my hubby and I were instantly hooked!

The recipe has evolved over time into something easier and less time consuming to make, but still made with plenty of fresh ingredients and NO sweet-and-sour. My good friend Kali was the one who suggested the Squirt drink (or Fresca) and my hubby and I suggested adding a hint of freshly squeezed orange. Those two additions were both a hit! The hint of orange really seems to cut down the lime taste and the carbonation of the Squirt drink makes the margarita even more refreshing.

Here is the recipe: (I think this drink is also called a Paloma, minus the orange)

2 oz. of Agavales Blanco Tequila (Make sure it’s 100% Agave)
6 oz. of Squirt (or Fresca)
1/2 oz. of Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
1/2 oz. of Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice

** Since you’re using a carbonated drink in this recipe, you won’t want to mix the ingredients in a cocktail shaker like you would with a ┬átypical margarita. Simply pour all the ingredients into a glass and stir with a utensil. Top it off with a few ice cubes, and your done!

  1. LOVE this post dedicated to my favorite drink! My mother loves a drink called the Paloma, using tequila , grapefruit and fresca. very similar to your post if you want to try another version. xo

  2. I will be trying these this summer for sure! They sound WAY better than the mix we are all used to. Pinning for later!
