The Audrey Hepburn Ponytail

So today I am showing you a super easy tutorial on creating an Audrey Hepburn inspired ponytail. My hair is pretty long, so I find myself wearing it up a lot. I’ve found that by giving your pony a little “pouf” and some curl, it will transform a typical casual look into an elegant “do”!

Step 1:
With a 1-2 inch barrel curling iron, curl the ends of your hair. If you have bangs, make sure to swoop them to the side to create a more authentic “Audrey” look.

Step 2:
Next, start sectioning out pieces of your hair to tease, starting at the crown of your head, working towards the back of your head.

Step 3:
Once the crown of your head is teased, slightly brush the top layer to hide any frizzy sections the teasing might have caused. Then pin your hair (as if you are creating a half up/half down look) using two extra large bobby pins. Make sure they cross in an “X” formation.  These are just to hold “the pouf” in place until we have the ponytail up.

Step 4:
Now that you have your “pouf” in place, you can then put all of your hair up in a ponytail. We want to hide your hair tie, so next we’re going to take a strand of hair out of the ponytail to wrap around the hair tie. Pin in place, and your set!

Step 5:
If you think your “pouf” will stay in place without the bobby pins we used in Step 3, feel free to take these out for a cleaner look.

  1. I LOVE this style. My hair isn’t quite long enough to execute this like you can, but it’s definitely one of my faves to attempt. I still can’t master the “wrapping the hair around the tie” thing. I can NEVER make this work!
