Reviewing my Frigidaire Refrigerator

If you’ve been keeping up with our kitchen renovation, then you know by now that there’s been a LOT going on. Since last fall we’ve demoed the entire kitchen and rebuilt it from the ground up. We’re so close to being finished and (believe it or not) we’re actually starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

One of the final touches we added to our kitchen was our suite of matching appliances from the Frigidaire Professional line, which we ordered from Nebraska Furniture Mart. We’ve been living with our appliances for a number of months and I’ve given a handful of reviews, which you can find here and here. My most recent review was of our 30” Frigidaire Range, which you can find here. If you’re shopping for appliances, I’m telling you, these reviews are a MUST-read. I made a sincere effort to be as detailed as I could about my experience thus far. I also wrote a pretty in-depth post about “What You Need to Know Before Ordering and Installing Appliances.” There’s a lot I learned throughout this entire experience, so I hope my lessons-learned and helpful tips can make your experience even easier.

Ok, now moving onto today’s review. Today I’m reviewing my Frigidaire Professional French Door Refrigerator. It’s been unlike any fridge I’ve owned in the past, and all for such a great price.

Here’s what I’ve loved so far:

The Look

I first want to start with one of my favorite things about this refrigerator – the designer look. The entire Frigidaire Professional Line has such a sleek design, and this refrigerator is no exception. When shopping around for appliances, I quickly realized how picky I was when it came to door handles. I wanted door handles that were modern and simple, which for me meant no curved handles like most refrigerators have. These handles have such a clean look, which completely aligned with the rest of my kitchen design.

I also loved that this particular design came in a counter-depth option. We didn’t have much room between the refrigerator and our island, so counter-depth was our only option. We were worried that a counter-depth refrigerator wouldn’t provide enough storage for our family, but the associate that helped us at Nebraska Furniture Mart informed us that this is one of the roomiest counter-depth refrigerators on the market. After shopping around for a number of weeks, we came to the same conclusion.

Dual Ice Makers

Aside from the overall look and design of the refrigerator, I’m absolutely obsessed with the dual ice feature. I’ve never seen another counter-depth refrigerator with TWO ice makers, so having this as a feature was such a delightful surprise. When we initially designed our kitchen, Chad and I considered installing an ice machine, but ultimately decided to install a beverage cooler instead. Once we discovered this refrigerator had two separate ice makers, we were so happy because we no longer needed a secondary source for ice.

The door ice maker is great for everyday drinks and the bucket ice maker (in the freezer drawer) is what I use for parties or when we fill up our ice chest when we travel. I also find myself using the bucket ice maker when I make iced tea or smoothies.

Storage & Shelving

Since I’ve never owned a french door style refrigerator, I wasn’t sure how I was going to like the configuration (refrigerator on top and freezer drawer on bottom). It didn’t take long for me to realize the many advantages to this type of setup. I use our refrigerator so much more than our freezer, so having the refrigerator available at eye level is amazing and so much easier to use on a day-to-day basis. I typically have my 10-month-old on my hip, so not having to constantly bend down to the bottom of the refrigerator is such a plus. I also never realized how much horizontal storage I now have. I can actually fit an entire pizza box in my refrigerator! I know, it’s the little things in life, right?

I also love how the Frigidaire SpacePro shelving is completely adjustable. For my every day use I can utilize the shelves to fit my personal needs, but when I entertain, I can very easily adjust the shelving to fit those large and awkward fruit trays or casserole dishes. Then once my company has left, I can adjust my shelving back to how I had it before.

Two examples of this creative storage system is the slide-under & flip-up shelving system. The slide-under shelf allows you to slide the shelf back in order to make room for taller items.

The flip up shelf folds up to do just the same. Here’s an example of the flip-up shelf in action:

The Air Filter

This is something that might go unnoticed when you have this refrigerator. Why? Because you don’t smell anything bad when you open the fridge! I no longer have to worry about finding Pinterest DIYs to get rid of food odor in my refrigerator because this filtration system does all the work for me. To keep the filter working as it should, you’ll need to replace it every 6-8 months. If you’re looking for the best deal, you can find the replacement filters at Nebraska Furniture Mart.

Smudge Free

My last, but certainly not least, favorite thing about this refrigerator is the smudge-proof stainless steel. I’ve had stainless steel appliances in the past, and the most annoying thing about them is how dirty they get. One touch with a hand that isn’t perfectly clean, and you already have a dirty-looking refrigerator.

I’m about to have two kiddos just one year apart, so I’m LOVING a smudge-proof appliance. My 10-month-old is a very active little boy and he’s into just about everything. He already likes to crawl up the refrigerator, so I can’t imagine how dirty the refrigerator would get if it wasn’t for that amazing smudge-proof stainless steel.

I hope today’s review has answered any questions you may have about my French Door Frigidaire Refrigerator. If not, feel free to ask any additional questions in the comments below!
