This week I decided to skip Inspiration Monday, but for good reason! I wanted to instead feature an amazingly talented blogger who recently submitted one of her makeovers through my “reader feature” submission form.

Her name is Kristin Thompson and she blogs over at Post Box Designs. She’s a former biochemistry graduate who fell in love with interior design upon tackling her husband’s bachelor pad. She soon graduated with a four year degree in Interior Design and has been working as a designer for the last eleven years. Today I’m featuring her recent mudroom makeover and I KNOW y’all will love it just as much as I do.

Here is a comparison of the two spaces she was working with:

Night and day, am I right?

Mudroom 1

Mudroom 3

Kristin and her hubby took an unfinished breezeway that connected their home to the garage, and turned it into the mudroom of their dreams. They finished the space, heated it, and opened it up to the rest of their home. Then they added six floor-to-ceiling lockers for each family member, including one for their pups. Each locker has a ton of storage, a bench, and its own charging station.

Mudroom 5

They also created a command center with custom mailboxes, a bulletin board, triple recycling area, charging station, and homework inbox. How creative is that?? They also added a guest area with bench area and oodles of storage.

They did the whole room on a budget, so make sure to visit her full blog post that features all the different ways they saved money. Her favorite, however, is how they kept the existing concrete floor. She even hand-painted it herself with porch paint! She created her entire floor for less than $90 of materials and a LOT dark chocolate. You gotta give it to Kristin – it looks amazing!!
