Modern Safari Nursery Design

Only a few more weeks until baby Hudson arrives! Although we closed on our house months ago, we aren’t moving in for another few weeks (or months, we’re not too sure).

Since we’re not moved in quite yet, Hudson won’t have an official nursery until he’s a month or two old, which means I’ve been able to take my time with the design. I hate that we won’t be able to bring him home to his own room, but there’s not much we can do about it at this point. I just keep telling myself it will all be worth it!

I recently posted about my initial nursery design (here) and also a video of my progress (here), but today I’ve got his official and final design all laid out. I’ve never designed a kid’s room, so it was a little hard for me to focus on just one concept. Since there were so many themes and color schemes I adored, it was really difficult to choose just one! Thankfully I was able to hone in on one design that I’m super happy with. If you ask me, it’s the perfect mix of modern and playful.

My initial inspiration pieces for the space were these cobalt blue prints (found here and here) from Wayfair. I was also super inspired by this adorable teepee that I found at Target for just $80. My last inspiration piece (which lead me to my final color scheme) was this mod baby quilt that I found at Land of Nod. It was literally the EXACT color scheme I had been looking for all wrapped up in one blanket – literally. I simply couldn’t pass it up!

For the walls, I’m going to keep it neutral with simple white paint. The room will already have a lot of color, so I really don’t think it will need any color on the walls. The room is also going to be on the smaller end, so I will need lighter walls to reflect as much natural light as possible.

So what do you think? I seriously cannot wait to actually start decorating once we move in. It feels like forever away, but I’m sure it will be here before I know it!
