Lets take a little walk down memory lane for a second. Almost 2 years ago I started a little blog called The Blissful Bee. It was not well designed, the photos were terrible and I didn’t have a clue what I was doing; I barely knew what a blog was and my design style was a bit… amateur. Regardless, I loved DIY and design and had a passion to share my adventures with others.
Now lets break it down even further. When I started off, The Blissful Bee was lets just say… an Elementary blog; amateur blog design and unorganized blog posts. I was doing what I could with what I knew at the time. A few months into it, I finally graduated and moved into the Jr. High level of blogging; awkward, unsure, still a bit lost, but still wanting to grow and discover myself. We’ll call this the “braces” phase of my blog. There’s potential, but it’s going to take a few months to show off those pearly whites;) Then I moved into the High School stage. Still discovering myself and my design style, but finally getting into the swing of things and making new bloggy friends along the way. So far, this has been my favorite phase;)
Ok now lets fast forward to a few months ago. I had been in contact with the editor of Artful Blogging and was looking forward to possibly writing an article for the magazine. I didn’t really know how this whole “writing for a magazine” thing worked, so I really didn’t know if I was even going to make the final cut. I had submitted my article and submitted my photos, but still wasn’t 100% sure if I would hear back or even be in the magazine.
Fast forward again to just a few weeks ago. My hubs and I were in the car headed to grab some food from Central Market and I get an email from the editor. I was completely shocked because I had convinced myself I hadn’t “made the cut” and wasn’t going to be in the magazine. Opening the email on my tiny little iPhone, I read one of the the most exciting emails I had read in a long time. The proof was attached of my 3 page spread and I immediately burst in tears. I know. Emotional, right?? I agree. I don’t know why I reacted this way, but for the first time in my life I had officially been PUBLISHED. I’m sure… wait… I KNOW this is a regular occurrence for most bloggers, but it was my first time and I will never forget it.
Blogging has been such a great experience for me and I wouldn’t change any of it. There were awkward phases, yes, there were learning curves, yes, but with a TON of hard work and dedication, there has also been opportunities presented and bloggy friends made.
If you would like to purchase a copy of Artful Blogging, you can go here, or visit your local Barns and Noble store and head on over to the Crafts/Hobby section of the magazine isle. In the mean time, you can enjoy a few snap shots I took of my spread:)
