Are you all ready for the new year?? I cannot believe we’re already jumping into 2014. I’m kind of shocked how fast 2013 went by! Do you all have any exciting NYE plans? Maybe you’re throwing a party, or helping a friend throw one? Well if you’re looking for some party ideas, I’ve got an easy $1 store project for you guys.
I found my champagne flutes at the $1 store and already had my gold spray paint and tape. I taped off the top section of my glass (so I can drink from it comfortably without my lips touching any paint), then sprayed the bottom section of the glass. I let it dry for a few minutes and removed the tape.
As much as I love this project, there were a few things I would have done differently. First, don’t use painters tape; instead, just use regular masking tape. The only reason I used painters tape is because I couldn’t find my masking tape (masking tape will stick better to the glass). Second, try to find a gold spray paint that is specifically intended for glass. These flutes have scratched up since making them and I was rather disappointed. So this is where I ask you all a question. Do you know if they even make gold spray paint for glass surfaces? I know they make normal spray paint for glass surfaces, but I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything in a metallic finish. Any tips and tricks would be much appreciated!
Anyways, I’m very happy with the look of these, and since they were just $1 each, I’m not all that upset that they are scratched. In most cases, these will only be used for one night anyways, so the fact that they aren’t going to last forever isn’t really a big deal.
