Happy Friday Ya’ll! I first want to remind you guys of the Halloween Home Tour that Jenna from Rain on a Tin Roof put together. It’s going on for two days; yesterday and today. To see who all is involved, check out my Halloween Home Tour [here]. Make sure to visit all of the wonderful bloggers and their spooky homes!
Ok moving on! I’m here today to talk about my
love obsession with wicker. A few months ago I posted about this obsession over on Twelve O Eight, but realized I never mentioned it here!
For some reason, I have always loved the look of wicker, rattan, seagrass etc. With every house I’ve lived in, I have tried to incorporate those textures in some form or fashion. For some reason it just brings a “homey” feel to just about any space.
Today I want to share with you 3 ways I use wicker in my home. And the best part? I’m a huge fan of mix and matching different wicker styles and colors. Don’t be worried about mixing dark and light – I actually love the contrast! You might even try painting your wicker with a fun accent color like I did with my favorite red wicker chair.
1. Wicker Chairs
This is one of my favorite chairs EVER. I painted it red a few years ago and have kept it in my home ever since. I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to part with it! I recently just thrifted a new chair for our living room [found here & here] so unfortunately this beauty has been bumped to our bedroom. But that’s ok:) I still get to stare at it’s gorgeous shape and stunning bold red color. Yeah if you can’t tell, I have a HUGE furniture crush on this chair.
Another favorite is our set of wicker dining chairs. I like the look of these because I can also use the extra chairs as accents throughout the rest of our house which creates a good flow. We randomly have one extra from the set that sits in our office.
2. Wicker Chargers
Here is a great example of mixing dark and light shades of wicker. Isn’t the contrast just beautiful? I love layering different weave patterns as well. The example above shows a braided placemat with a woven charger sitting on top.
3. Wicker Baskets
This basket has a slight grey wash over it and sits on my coffee table. It’s a perfect centerpiece; it allows me to kind of just throw things in there when I’m feeling lazy but still keeps my coffee table nice and organized.
These baskets sit in our home office. I love how they give us some much needed storage but also are beautiful as well. I actually might get 4 more to replace the lockers. It’s really starting to bug me that you can see of of my junk through the wires! Guess I need to go buy more wicker…
And do you recognize something else? Thats one of our extra dining room chairs! Works perfectly as an accent chair, don’t you think?
So as you can see, there are SO many ways to incorporate wicker into your home. You can combine them all together like I did in my home, or you can choose just a few of these options. I hope you enjoyed today’s wicker inspiration!
