Happy Friday everyone! Today’s post is all about keeping it simple. As some of you might know, I work as a photographer on the weekends. I love using props, but don’t like spending too much money on them. Today’s post is a prime example on how being thrifty can really pay off. A few weeks ago I was getting ready for a {1st birthday} photo shoot and realized I wanted to use some sort of bunting for the shoot. In just 5 minutes I was able to quickly throw together some bunting for the session – and for free too!
I recently re-covered my headboard in my master bedroom and had some left over fabric. The fabric is a thick duck cloth which works perfectly when being used in an outdoor photo shoot. It’s not flimsy and won’t really blow in the wind when I’m in the middle of a session. It’s also really easy to write on – I had no trouble getting a nice clean line when using the sharpie.
Materials: Sharpie, fabric scraps, jute string, hot glue
All you have to do is cut 3 triangles out of your fabric. I cut out one triangle and then used that first triangle as a pattern for the other two. I then began to free-hand some lettering on the fabric. If you feel uncomfortable with free-handing, all you have to do is use a stencil instead. Since I was using this in a photo shoot, I wasn’t too concerned with perfection. This is a prop that won’t be seen up close, so free-handing worked for me. Once the sharpie lettering has dried, turn over the triangle scraps and glue them to your jute string. And your done!
This project literally took MAYBE 5 minutes and ended up giving me some of my favorite pictures from my photo shoot. Sometimes simple is all you need!
