Last week I had the amazing opportunity to visit New York for the Better Homes and Gardens Stylemaker event. It’s one of those things that I still don’t really believe is real. I had dreamed of getting invited to this event for a while, and the fact that it actually happened still stuns me. I still haven’t been able to soak it all in yet!

The event was amazing (of course) and I got to meet so many talented people. I had never been to any sort of blogger event, and to finally meet some of the bloggers I’ve followed for years felt so surreal. I thought I would be so nervous about meeting all of the people I look up to, but honestly, we all clicked so well. It was like I had known them forever! And the exact same thing goes for all of the BHG editors and staff. They. Were. Amazing. Each and every one of them were so welcoming and warm.

My roommate was Jen from City Farmhouse and I LOVE HER. We stayed at Pod 51 which is a small scale hotel in Manhattan. The rooms were tiny, but super stylish. I wish I would have taken more photos of the inside, but you’ll have to take my word on how cool it was. Well, everything in NY is cool, so I’m sure I’m not surprising anyone;)

The workshop was all day on Thursday and I learned so much about blogging and the BHG brand. It was so cool to actually see how it all works!

I’m not sure I could choose just one class to be my favorite (because they were all so great!) but it was really cool getting to meet Eddie Ross and see his styling/photo shoot process. He had so many great tips. I thought I knew how to style a photo shoot, but he taught us so many more tricks.

Towards the end of the day, we got to listen to a panel of talented stylist and designers who all work in the biz. And yes – recognize someone? Yeah, that’s Nate Berkus. I didn’t get to introduce myself (because he was swarmed at all times) but it was so cool to see him in person and hear his design advice.

After the day events wrapped up, we headed over to the Gavenport Hotel for the Stylemaker party. I again got to chat it up with Eddie Ross and also got to meet Monica Pedersen!

I think it’s safe to say last week was one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had. I’m still trying to figure out if it all actually happened or if I’m just dreaming or something! Either way, I’m so happy I was a part of the Stylemaker event this year. Since I had never been to New York, I ended up staying through the weekend and stayed with my best friend through Sunday. I’ll be posting about the rest of my trip this week, so stay tuned!
